Our first walk during our short break in Barley, nestled at the base of Pendle Hill, led us away from the hill towards the Black Moss Reservoirs and into Aitken Wood to embark on the Pendle Sculpture Trail. Regrettably, some sculptures were absent or damaged, yet the ones that remained were quite fascinating. They weren't all witch-themed, and there was ingenious repurposing of old tree stumps into sculptures. As we journeyed, we were treated to splendid views, with the iconic Pendle Hill emerging into sight multiple times. Upon leaving the woods, we skirted the upper reservoir and made our way back across Stang Top Moor, which was somewhat marshy, yet we managed to cross it without incident. Despite the sunny conditions, it remained brisk, but fortunately, rain was absent. We made our way back to our starting point and then proceeded to check into our accommodation at the Pendle Inn.
